Wendell James | Bio

Hollywood personality and co-star to Emmy nominated actress Kym E. Whitley on the hits show “Raising Whitley” on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Wendell James’s celebrity star continues to shine bright. His unique style along with his fun, but blunt personality is a hit in Hollywood and everyone wants to know Wendell!

Born in Warren Ohio, it was obvious that this town could never hold him. He had too much style, personality and talent to stay in Warren! James decided that Hollywood was the perfect place for his gifts and talents to flourish and he was right!

His passion for fashion prompted him to start his own shirt line called Wendell’s Designs. Good friend actress Kym E. Whitley hosted the star-studded launch party and of course, the colorful shirt line was a hit! Shortly thereafter, James create and launch his own talk show called “Talking with Wendell” where he took his wild and zany personality to the red carpet and became known as one of Hollywood’s most loved red carpet host. From Gayle King to Dan Rather, everybody made their way over and took up conversation with Wendell.

In March of 2007, the Talking with Wendell show hit the radio airwaves and Wendell was added to the KCAA 1050 AM family of radio broadcasters. The show was both entertaining and informative aired live every Saturday covering the Riverside and San Bernardino counties while streaming live on the web. James addressed hot topics in the news and in the community as well as the juicy Hollywood Scoop and if anyone had the scoop, it was Wendell! His impressive list of celebrity guests and professionals include Loretta Devine, Pat Boone, Omarosa, Dr. Cornel West, Alfre Woodard, Niecy Nash, Rolonda Watts, Kenny Lattimore, Dr. David Kampt, Actress Kym E. Whitley and Sheryl Lee Ralph to name a few. James also became the official red carpet host for DIVAS Simply Singing musical concert benefiting the fight against HIV/AIDS with actress Sheryl Lee Ralph more than seven years ago and to date remains the official red carpet host.

In 2011, James hit the theater scene as cast member in the long-running, GLAAD nominated Off-Broadway play “Sex, Relationships and Sometimes Love”. Here he brought the crowd uncontrollable laughter with his hilarious antics as he performed the monologue “Bon Appétit”. Wendell is also executive producer on the multi-award winning documentary “Gang Girl”, the story of a mother who discovers that her 22 year old daughter is a member of a dangerous L.A. gang.
